Getting There

St Martial, although deep in the heart of the French countryside is surprisingly accessible and the gites can be reached by car from the channel ports in a day if an early start is made. A number of low cost airlines serve airports in the area around; Ryanair flies to Rodez (one hour by car) and Carcassone, (two hours by car). The French high speed train (TGV) serves Montauban (one hour away by car) and Toulouse (75 minutes) from where it is possible to take a connecting train to Laguepie. The Toulouse-Matabiau Station serves as a train station, a bus station and a metro station making it easy to access all forms of transportation. A regular coach shuttle links the airport to the railway station. Bookings can be made on-line at SNCF the French rail site (In fact the overnight sleeper can be caught to and from Laguepie to Paris without changing!) You can book the first 'leg' with eurostar and then use the SNCF link to book the onward journey.
